    Skywalker Trill Hunnit

Here are some pics of the gear currently in my chariot. Not nearly as involved and fantastic as what most of you heads are working with. I must admit, I keep it simple.

    Automoveel:
    Lexus IS300

    HU:
    Pioneer Avic D3 HU

    Processing:
    Audison Bitone

    Amps:
    (2) Digital Designs S4's Dual-Mono
    Digital Designs M1a Mono
    rated power: 900w/subs, 400w/midwoofer, 100w/mid, 75w/tweet

    Speakers:
    Morel MT-23
    Morel CDM-54
    Usher 8945P
    JBL W12GTi

Actually, the source is the iPod. I listen to LP's and 45's in the house, but fuck flipping through Caselogic pages like it's 1995.

Trunk shot. This isn't with the amp rack in there. It's raised a couple inches. Plus there's the carpet mat with the Lexus logo embroidered up in it.

Here are some progress pics of the amp rack.

My beautiful son showing off his handy work.

Shot of access to the spare. I had to get a donut spare to gain some room for this thing.

Here it is pretty much finished. A trio of 5" PC fans blow through to circulate air. The cutouts in the vertical pieces are coved on both sides. Maybe it helps with flow over the amps. Dunno... It was worth the 15mins. Those amps are on 1/4" nuts for risers and I cut some holes w/ a holesaw near the outsides to hopefully get some circulation on those sides of the heatsinks. I put a relay in a little project box that resides in that 11 o'clock position up there.

I don't have any finished shots, but there are L-brackets that bolt into the stock tethers to keep that thing from bouncing around back there.

My boy after a long hard day of helping Pops out.

Here's a test fit of the mids in the kicks. There isn't shit for room behind these (fuseblocks), thus the decision to do shallow, sealed domes.

    Rear shot.

Mounted and rhet' to go like Wanda from In Living Color.

    In place.

Woofer in door. No pics of the naked door. I'll take some next time I take the panel off. I'm getting a buzzing in the passenger side that I have to check out anyway.

    Tweeters in place with NHMC.

Thank God the thread on this stuff. It's started to sweat a bit, and it's not as pretty as it was. There's some gloop in this grill where the clay is now.

DIY RCA's. Mic cable was available cheap locally so that's what was used. Shitt is a bitt fatt, I gotta say. I'd prefer thinner cable, but this works.

    Labeled.

Shot from listening position. I sit low and far back.

The Bitone is in the glovebox, and that's why I couldn't try an MS-8 out if I wanted to - no room for that big monkey. I have been contemplating center channels though. Winslow's work has got me thinking a couple things.

Fantastic iPod case. Looks great. Best thing about having an auto trans is being able to not worry about installing in the kicks. Between my steel-toed workboots and a 5-speed, I don't have a snowballs chance at speakers surviving in that spot. Looking into some widebander options for the corner spot instead. I will keep checking out this build, as your build quality is pretty solid.

IMO, the best thing about an auto is not bumping ol' girl's head with your left knee every time you have to shift. My last standard gear car had a benchseat, so I was spoiled. Still had to shift 1-3-5...

Thanks for the kind words 94! I'm brainstorming some ideas for some changes, but there prolly won't be any for quite a while, honestly. I'll take some pics of the finished floor when I sort out the wires back there.

I agree about kickpanel space being a big benefit in autos. Very solid looking build. Hope you are enjoying the w12gtis as much as I enjoyed mine.

Chad, don't give me any shit about autos. I'm trying to gradually convince myself that getting an auto won't ruin my life. (wife and ailing knee want an automatic bad).

Knee surgery or therapy and she has her own car.

What's the issue at hand here? I glanced over the Lexus IS thread, but didn't read it fully. Wifey doesn't want a stick shift car? Can't drive one because of her knee? She's putting you both (and god knows who else, possibly) in great danger by her inabilities.

Oh, and to answer VG30's question asked elsewhere, the problem was the muting circuit.

Backstory: When I put my car back together the sub amp would power up, but there was no output. Got it fixed by Steve Mantz of Zed Audio. Good guy. Always willing to explain things in great detail. Only thing that sucks is having to take Ronald Reagan Freeway to get there. Nothing wrong with the road itself, it's the namesake I hate.

Wife doesn't like stick shift, understandably as she spends a lot of time in traffic. My knees are deficient and getting worse. She's got her auto in the 4Runner so she's good. No danger. Just probably looking at an auto in the next car.
