    2006 civic Si Questions

My friend has been pretty much happy with the setup I helped him with.

    List of stuffs

Stock civic Navi with Premium sound
    Alpine PXE-h650
    Soundstream Mc245 swapping to a Reference 405
Polk 6.5's in the doors and tweeters in the factory spot on dash
    polk coax's in the rear
    polk mm 10 sub

The alpine has been having issues. He likes the overall sound but it was a pain to set up. He wants to be able to use the factory volume and I'm not sure which processor to recommend. Anyone have any thoughts?

How are you getting the signal out of the current head unit? Where does volume attenuation occur in the stock signal chain?

The factory headunut has low level out thats pretty flat. We are taking signal out before the amp @ the moment.

Waht type of signal exactly is it that you will be connecting to the processor? A balanced low voltage signal coming out directly from the headunit that is variable (ie master volume still works on it)?

Balanced low level is what I'm almost positive it is. Volume is done via the headunit.

If volume controls at the head unit affect the line level output signal, anything should work. If instead the head unit is actually varying the amplifier gain (and the line level remains constant) then you'll need to use the speaker level signal either directly (MS-8, etc.) or via something like a LOC.

Should be simple to test if you aren't certain how the level control works currently.

Yup. Just make sure the processor can take a balanced input.

If not, the speaker level inputs should work with maybe their being a problem of not meeting the input sensitivity for them correct?

Sorry chad,.... it was premium audio, we pulled the dash and swapped it for the civic factory nav. Headunit meaning the factory navigation. It was made by alpine and it reminds me of a w200 with low level outputs without rca's

looking to use the factory volume controls
