I googled around about this and found these threads on the subject.

Those threads seem to indicate it won't work without something like the griffin iMic, but I'm not clear on why it does work on Jay's macbook. Before spending money on something like the iMic, I'd seriously consider just going all in on a mobile pre or something similar (I use an Art USB Dual Pre with both my PC laptops and my Mac Pro).

Interesting. Is there any free software that would work with the KTX-H100 mic? If no, do you know which paid software would work?

I've used trueRTA and synRTA. As long as the mic works with your soundcard, the software is not important. Seems like Macs could have an issue with the mic. There are threads here (I think) and DIYMA about using the Audessy mic.

Of course, all of this is predicated on my, "it's RTA, all you need is close enough" attitude. Others may not agree.

Righto. I have access to a handful of laptops (2 macbooks w/windows vm's, ibm T20, T30, T60, an HP, ...) and some sort of USB soundcard I could try it with. I will work on obtaining software next I suppose

I use an HP laptop, and I think I may have even used it with my old (very old) Thinkpad.
