    BAH

The part that I had fixed was still fixed. The superglue did not fail.

This time the pole shifted in the magnet. In fact, it moves freely around inside, held in place only by magnetic force.

I think the fix goes something like this:

    1. separate the two halves of the magnet
    2. use a jig to locate the pole
    3. apply glue
    4. reconnect the magnet halves

I can't even do #1 without destroying the magnet... and I already found out that having it shipped out for repair costs more than a new one. Oh well, at least I got to use it for a week after looking at it on the bench for a year.

Next I guess I will try to find another blown speaker which has a usable magnet and the same size voice coil.

pole peice is ussualy connected to the backplate as one peice. can you pry the backplate off? if so you can try to glue and center it.

I just blew bubbly water out my nose..... That ain't happening.

But yeah, the pole is nrmally WELL connected to the back plate, as in it's machined as one chunk or bonded with something other than... say... glue.

Tried to figure out if I can make the IDQ recone kit work with one of the Adire Shiva basket/magnet assemblies last night. I think it is possible, just have to figure out how to clamp some things for glue.

In the meantime I used the foam surround from one of the Shivas to repair an old Kicker CompVR which had the classic dissolved surround going on.
